My Sweet Georgia Peaches

It’s been almost 11 years since my Madi was born. Her birthday is April 2nd and I can’t believe how fast it’s gone by. You hear that all the time when you have kids, people say “Enjoy every minute, it goes by so fast” and they’re right. Madison is such a treasure. She is just the best daughter ever. She has always been easy going, even when she was a baby. If I was a 5th grader, I would really want her to be my friend. She is always trying to do the right thing and her heart can barely fit in her body, it’s so big. She has so much compassion for people. Little kids just hang on her, she is everyone’s big sister. I love you so much Madi. You are my joy.

I found 2 Angels playing around in the peach trees.

I am in love with Serenbe

A few years ago I shot a wedding at a beautiful farm setting in the Chattahoochee Hill Country called Serenbe. It is a breathtaking place and when Nancy and Geno called from North Carolina and wanted to do a photo shoot I thought it would be the perfect place. I met Mr. and Mrs. Carr at a wedding last year and they mentioned how they loved the bride and grooms engagement photos and wished that they knew me before they got married. Well as a surprise thank you gift for helping out with the wedding, the bride purchased a shoot for Nancy and Geno. After all, you don’t need to be engaged to have an excuse for great photos, you can be happily married too. Life itself is great reason to take the time to record who you are.

We met at the Inn at Serenbe which is so cute I just want to move in there. It is part of a larger community that believes that the quality of life is more than simply a place to live. It is a place that is environmentaly responsible, organically healthy and spiritually and aesthetically stimulating. If you have some free time, take a drive out there and you’ll see what I mean.

I had the best time with you both. Thanks for making the drive and I’m glad you weren’t dissapointed.

What is it?

At first I thought it was a young cardinal but the females are tan so I’m not sure. We have bird feeders around our property and we love to watch and listen to their song. This one however, wants to move in. For the past few days, you can find this little peep at one of the windows, singing away, clinging onto the screen or sometimes the window moulding. He/she seems desperate to get in. I think I’ll name it Peep. Since it showed up at Easter with all those wonderful peeps, it’ll work. It’s gender friendly too.

It particularly likes the mop on the back deck. It’s right next to the window.

Happy Easter Everyone

It’s the most important day we celebrate. Why? Because if Jesus hadn’t rose from the dead, then everything that Christianity represents wouldn’t stand up to the test. but it does, and He did. He appeared to many. More than 500 people saw him at one time. Even today it only takes 2 or 3 witnesses to prove something as fact. The resurrection can’t be discredited.
Before Jesus was crucified, Peter fled and denied him 3 times. He was very afraid. After the ressurection, the disciples, led by Peter, became ultra bold and courageous. History records that when Peter was crucified, he said that he was not worthy to be killed in the same mannor as Jesus and asked to be crucified upside down. What would make a cowardly man be transformed into a man that would willingly suffer and die this kind of death? Seeing Jesus alive would. For sure!
Jesus’ brother James was a devout Jewish man and he knew that he could not worship anyone other than God or he would be condemmed to eternal hell. After Jesus rose from the grave and appeared to his disciples, James and his brother Jude went on to each write books in the New Testament, bearing their name, declaring Christ as Lord. They didn’t worship their brother Jesus before his death but only after they saw him alive again.

I know that Easter can appear to be more about bunnies and eggs than the risen Christ, and even for adults it can be a brief remembrance of an often told story. The truth is, it’s the most profound event in history. It cannot even be contained in human words. The death and resurrection of Jesus, with all it’s implications, should shake and affect us to the very core of our being. Peter said it this way:
“Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,”(1Pet 1.8 ESV)
Peter says that as we see Jesus and believe in him that we will be filled with such a glorious joy that it cannot even be expressed.
I hope and pray that today you experience the Holy Spirit in a deep way and have a greater revelation of the truth of Jesus Christ.
Here are a few images from the past 2 days.

Kelly + Jon

We met up in the middle of Inman Park at an adorable little Flower Bar. Bright colors outside, 12+ vendors inside and a hurricane on the way. We had no idea. Kelly and Jon met through friends a few years ago and have been inseparable ever since. They brought along their adorable dog “Sailor” and we spent a few hours getting Jon over his aprehension to camera’s. I think we did a great job and so does Jon. Yay!

It started to rain cats and dogs. Seriously. We had no idea that a tornado was about 15 minutes away but it was coming down hard so we went back to their super cute loft to wait out the storm. They have this great cement stairway that we ended up hiding out in for 15 minutes while the tornado ripped roofs off of houses only a few blocks away. It was crazy.
We couldn’t forget Sophie. She was the queen of the house, for sure.

It was a very memorable day to say the least. I had a blast. Thanks Kelly and Jon. I can’t wait till your wedding in September!
