Bishop Flynn Johnson’s 60th Birthday

This past weekend I had the awesome pleasure of hanging out with one of my second families here in Georgia. Bishop Flynn Johnson pastors an incredible church called Atlanta Metropolitan Cathedral and his family and staff put on a wonderful weekend, full of surprises, to celebrate his 60th birthday.  Friday night started off with a delicious dinner hosted by his daughter in law Toya, with some incredible food and lots of family.  Brothers flew in from out of town and I think it was been a while since they were all together like this.

I have to mention these cupcakes because never before in my life have I had keylime cupcakes and they were the BOMB! Renae has a smokin hot cupcake business so if you are looking for a unique desert, email me and I’ll give you her number.

Saturday morning began with a round of golf at fort McPhereson with pastors and friends.

Saturday night the Georgia World Congress Center was reserved for a concert honoring the Bishop. He had no idea who would be there. The night started off with Darlene Lacour ( someone tell me if I’ve spelled that wrong!)

Next up was Kevin Lavar

Bishop Johnson’s own son rocked the house and crooned out inspiring balads. Matthew Johnson is going to be world famous very soon. His back up singers were awesome as well.

The big surprise was Andrea Crouch who has been an inspiration and favorite of Bishop’s for years and years. He and his twin sister are incredible entertainers with amazing testimonies. It was awesome!

Sunday morning service always lifts the roof off. The dance/worship team is so full of passion and love for God. There were many honored guests that took the stage to wish Bishop Johnson a happy birthday and tell him what he meant to them. I feel very fortunate to be a part of their extended family.

I love love love this shot.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BISHOP JOHNSON!!! {{{{{{{{HERE’S YOUR SLIDESHOW}}}}}}}}}}

  • Dr. Annette Smith - Your photography is amazing. I felt as if I were watching the event in the audience. Bishop Flynn and Carolyn were my pastors while I attended school in Atlanta 20 years ago. I got saved in their church and grew under their teaching and love. They changed my life forever. Occasionally I go on their website just to see what’s up at AMC. I saw your photos and cried to see how God is truly STILL blessing their life and ministry. When I moved back to Chicago Tiffny was about 12!! I am married to a faithful man of GOD, my daughter is going off to college next fall, maybe even to Atlanta,I will contact Bishop and Carolyn if she does. What a blessing to find your site. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world.ReplyCancel

  • Tei - Wow – I was just searching the web for Bishop’s name and came across this presentation. What an awesome, awesome slideshow. I am a former Metronight from many years ago and I now reside in St. Louis. My life will never be the same because of the ministry of Bishop Flynn and Carolyn Johnson. I still consider myself a member. However, I attended Metro while in college and subsequently thereafter while living in Atlanta until I had to move back home due to an unexpected family emergency. I come to Atlanta every chance I get – I miss the flavor of the praise and worship and I am sure that “CHEWY or MATTHEWY” as we so affectionately call him – was off the chain. I wish I had known about the celebration sooner – I would have been there. There is so much more that I can say, but for now – I will just say HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY BISHOP. Hugs and Luv to you and Metro!!!ReplyCancel
