Meet Dante the Doberman. He’s the proud owner of Sara and Michael and when I arrived at their home he had decided to take us all for a walk. He’s the coolest dog and rightfully so becuase hanging out with Sara and Michael, it didn’t take long to see where he got his awesomeness from. We strolled around Virginia Highlands and stopped at their favorite coffee shop where we I asked Michael about how they met. I’ll just say right now that he wins the prize for telling the story ( sorry Sara ) becuase a few sentences have been stuck in my head for days. “I had been on the road traveling with the band and I basically burned myself out. It wasn’t fun anymore and I just felt tired so I came home to try and remember why I was doing it in the first place and as fate would have it I ended up falling in love. It’s been a strange and wonderful year.” I’m not sure if it’s the combination of strange and wonderful that rang a bell in my chest or the thoughful way he told his story about being a professional musician since the age of 18. My friend Adrian later said, “They fell in love at their place of rest.” That’s exactly what happened too. Sara just finished her first year of law school, she’s confident, giddy and crazy-in-love with Michael.

I seriously love this image. We drove to one of their favorite tattoo shops and the side of the building was blazing bright but a tree on the curb cast a shadow on the wall and gave us a spot to shoot.

I had such a great time with the two of you. I left feeling richer for knowing you and looking forward to the next time we get to hang out.
