Like The River

I recently did a model/salon shoot for Like the River Salon in Atlanta. Najah and Lateefah Aziz are sisters and owners of this hip, stylish salon and they have huge hearts as they have made a point to give back to the community. Four times a year they give free services to battered women in the downtown area and also breast cancer survivors and troubled teens. How awesome is that? The shoot was designed to showcase the work of the stylists and update their website. Here is a first hand look at their style. You guys rock.

The awesome jewelry pieces that the girls are wearing are designed by Tracie Howard ( shown below ) You can check out her beautiful work HERE.

This style is my favorite. If i could make my hair do that sideways wave look like the 40′s, I would cut it short in a second.

Age is just a number.

This is my beautiful friend, Tee Garlington. If you want to be around someone with joy, be around her. If you want to be encouraged, inspired or feel loved, be around her. She is one amazing lady. Essense magazine is doing a story on women over 60 and she should get the cover. For real. She looks incredible, don’t you think? Watch out for the issue, we’re sending in her photos. You rock, Tee!

I’ve been cheating on you, blogger.

I didn’t want to do it either, for lots of reasons. A big one is time. I feel crunched for time as it is and committing to another blogger/photo/network makes my heart rate rise just thinking about it. But I have slowly been sneaking away to spend time on flickr. I still love you the most, though.

There is a group of photographers based out of Atlanta that meet twice a month to shoot volunteer models. My friend Julie has been participating for months and I’ve been living vicariously through her. Tuesday I decided to go for it myself. I think there were about 20 photographers, all different levels and 6 models. Eveyone would get their turn “directing” and meanwhile, you could just shoot over everyone’s shoulder’s. Here are a few of mine.
